Seruling (Suling Bambu) adalah sebuah alat musik khas Indonesia. Walaupun sederhana dan terbuat dari bambu, seruling pun bisa menjadi suguhan orkestra yang luar biasa.

Lantas apa hubungan antara seruling dengan film animasi tiga dimensi (3D)? Ternyata seruling telah menjadi inspirasi untuk sebuah proyek pembuatan film 3D di Indonesia.

Proyek itu bernama Seruling Project, yaitu sebuah upaya gotong-royong untuk menciptakan film animasi 3D khas Indonesia. Proyek ini digawangi oleh forum Blender Indonesia, sebuah kelompok pengguna aplikasi 3D Open Source Blender.

“Ide dasarnya memang mengacu pada Open Movie Blender di Belanda, namun kami berbeda dari sistem kerjanya yang full Online. Kami ingin membuat workflow/pipeline animasi secara online dengan memaksimalkan internet dan tools open source khususnya Blender 3D,” ujar HizaRo selaku Director Seruling Project, ketika dihubungi detikINET via-email, Selasa (19/1/2010).

Hiza menargetkan proyek berupa film pendek sepanjang 5 menit yang sepenuhnya menampilkan animasi 3D, akan selesai sekitar bulan Agustus 2010.

“Proses open movie ini tentu sangat berbeda dengan proses yang lain. Di mana kami membuka kemungkinan setiap orang untuk melihat, berkomentar, membantu, dan berkolaborasi melalui Blogs Seruling. Ini yang menarik,” tambahnya.

Komunitas tersebut berharap, proyek ini dapat menjadi pionir dalam perkembangan animasi open source di Indonesia. “Sekaligus membuka mata kita dengan eksistensi dan integritas, keselarasan dalam perbedaan, kebersamaan dalam satu komitmen, dan berbagai maksud positif lainnya,” tukas Hiza.
